The Strand Lofts in Galveston Texas

Buy Houston Loft | Rent Houston Loft | Sell Houston Loft

From the outside, The Strand Lofts looks like an elegant relic of Galveston’s colorful past. From the inside, The Strand opens up into a contemporary world of loft living. Against a comfortably balanced backdrop of old and new, residents have the freedom to express themselves and to enjoy the incomparable hospitality and atmosphere of Galveston’s Dickensian historic district and waterfront.

None of the building’s turn-of-the-century charm is lost. Built in 1891 as the Galveston offices of Clark & Courts, a flourishing Gulf Coast printing company, The Strand’s loft residences feature many reminders of the original building’s structural features and architectural details.

Look carefully and you’ll see evidence of the aftermath of the Great Storm of 1900, after which most commercial buildings in low-lying Galveston were raised a minimum of five feet or more above sea level. Iron fire shutters still protect two exposures of the building. The elegant grand staircase has been incorporated into the floor plan of several lofts. And at the top, The Strand’s seven penthouse lofts feature arched windows with spectacular views over the waterfront and Galveston’s historical grand neighborhoods.
